What makes it different
The V Forge Set is the MeatStick V Series setup built for long smoker cooks and pit-temperature accuracy. Three things make it different from the V Prime Set or V Duo Set:
1. Ambient temperature is measured at the grate, not on the Stick
The V Forge Set ships with a separate Wired Ambient Probe that clips at grate level — right where you want to know the pit temperature. The Stick stays in the meat and tracks the cook; the wired ambient probe tracks the cooking environment independently.
On most wireless meat thermometers (including the V Prime Stick), the ambient sensor lives on the Stick itself. When the Stick is buried in cold meat, the meat acts as a heat sink and pulls the ambient reading well below what's actually happening on the pit. For low-and-slow cooks, that's the difference between a 12-hour brisket done right and one that overshoots.
The V Forge architecture separates the two measurements so each one is accurate.
2. WiFi is built in
The V Forge Set includes the WiFi Hub in the box. The Hub bridges your Stick over Bluetooth and pushes cook data to the MeatStick Cloud over WiFi — so you can check your cook from the grocery store, the office, or in bed during an overnight smoke. No separate gateway purchase, no monthly subscription.
3. It scales — same Hub, more Sticks
When you outgrow one probe, the V Forge family adds extra Sticks via V Core Sets (the 2-, 3-, and 4-Stick Forge Sets). The WiFi Hub manages multiple probes simultaneously. You never re-buy the Hub or the wired ambient probe — you just add Sticks and their stackable chargers.
Best for: offset smokers, kamado, pellet grills, long cooks (8+ hours), multi-protein cooks, and anyone who's been burned by inaccurate pit-temperature readings on a wireless thermometer.
Not the right fit: quick weeknight grilling and sears where pit-temperature accuracy doesn't matter much. For those cooks, the simpler V Prime Set or V Core Set is a better match.
