Battery and charging
Every MeatStick V Series Stick charges the same way — drop it onto its base or charger and it tops up automatically. The details below apply to any V Series Stick (V Prime or V Core). How each base or charger behaves is a little different, so there's a quick guide to yours at the bottom.
Charging your Stick
Drop it on to charge. Place the Stick onto your base or charger. The contacts seat magnetically and charging starts on its own. Leave it about an hour before first use.
Quick charge in a pinch:
5 minutes → about 4 hours of cooking
10 minutes → about 9 hours of cooking
Full battery lasts 50+ hours — long enough for the longest overnight smoke.
Don't charge a wet Stick. Dry it off first so the contacts make a clean connection.
Clean before charging. Wipe the metal cap and steel shaft so they look like bare steel, not soot — residue can block charging.
Brand-new Stick looks dead? That's normal. Sticks ship from the factory in a low-voltage protection state. If you lift a brand-new Stick off the charger before its first charge, it can look like nothing's happening. Give it about 10 seconds on a powered charger and the protection state clears — it'll wake up when you take it off.
Will my older Stick charge on a V Series base?
No. A V Series base or charger is built for the V Series Stick and has different dimensions. A MeatStick 4, Chef, or older Stick won't seat correctly. Always charge each Stick on the base or charger made for it.
Your base or charger works a little differently
Charging times and battery life above are the same for every V Series Stick. But how you power your base, what its lights mean, and how long it lasts depend on which one you have. Open yours:
V Smart Base — the base in the V Prime Set
V Duo Smart Base — the two-Stick base with the LCD screen
V Charge Stack — the stackable charger in the V Core Set
V WiFi Hub — the hub in the V Forge Set
